Overland Water Insurance
This endorsement provides protection against fresh water flooding. Overland Water insurance is a new coverage being offered by a growing number of insurers for the first time in Canada and works in conjunction with Sewer Backup insurance. While there are various limits of coverage available and eligibility requirements to be met which include location of your home and prior claims history, this insurance is available to the majority of residences in Alberta. Make a point of discussing this valuable protection with your insurance advisor.
Sewer Backup Insurance
This endorsement protects your property from the damage caused by the sudden and accidental backing up of sewers, septic systems or sump pump losses. Various limits of coverage may be available. In many cases, if the sewer back up loss is caused directly or indirectly from flood or Overland Water, coverage under this endorsement would not apply. Speak with your insurance advisor to learn how Overland Water and Sewer Backup insurance work together to increase your protection against unforeseen water damage losses.
Service Line Insurance
The Service Line endorsement is optional additional insurance provided by a growing number of insurers and generally provides coverage for the repair or replacement of lines that provide sewer service and bring water into your home. Some insurers also include coverage for power, data and communication lines. It is typically the homeowner’s responsibility to repair or replace these service lines when damage occurs within the boundaries of your property and often this means significant cost associated with excavation etc. Your insurance advisor can explain the types of losses that this additional insurance would cover and the limits of coverage that would be available to you.
Claims Protector is an endorsement that protects your Claims Free Discount following the first claim on the protected location. Many insurance companies offer this rating protection, some after 3 years insured and claims free, others after 5 years of claims free history. Call your insurance advisor to see if you are eligible.
No one can prevent an earthquake from ruining your home… however; you can do something to keep it from wiping out your financial stability. Protect your house with earthquake insurance.
While most of Alberta’s risk for earthquake is low, know that earthquake coverage is available. It may only cost a few extra dollars per month for you to include earthquake insurance onto your home, tenant’s or condo policy. Feel confident that you can get back on your feet with this additional coverage – especially if your home has suffered serious damage.
Home-Based Business Insurance
Your home business is important to you and your family. Did you know that the operations of your home-based business are usually not covered under home policies? There’s a good chance that your policy won’t respond if there’s an accident, fire or other type of loss if it’s a result of your business operations.
Depending on what type of home-based business you have, we may be able to add protection for your business to your home insurance policy. This would add coverage for damage to any property related to your home business (whether the damage occurs in your home or off-site) as well as liability coverage for your home business. If your home based business can not be added to your home, condo or tenant’s policy, we would be pleased to have our Commercial Department look into the appropriate coverage for you.
Identity Theft Insurance
Identity theft is one of the fastest-growing criminal offences in Canada. If this happens to you, it can be a difficult and painful experience to recover from. Restoring your good name and repairing your credit can be extremely frustrating and time-consuming.
You can safeguard yourself from the aggravation and costs associated with identity theft by adding identity theft coverage to your policy. We can also provide you with information and advice on how to avoid falling victim to this common crime.
Personal Liability Umbrella Insurance
Avoid the skyrocketing expense associated with third party injuries and lawsuits by adding umbrella liability to your insurance package. This added protection supplements the amount of personal liability coverage provided by your home and automobile insurance policies. It protects your financial health against expensive lawsuits for claims for severe injury, loss of life, or damage to high value property that you may have caused.
In addition, personal umbrella liability coverage provides extra protection for claims which include situations involving Personal Injury (i.e.: libel, slander, defamation of character etc.), liability assumed under a personal contract, and extensions of coverage to volunteers.
Scheduled Articles Insurance
Insurers place specific maximum limits (ie: “special limits”) of insurance payable in any one loss for certain categories of personal property considered to be at higher risk of being damaged, lost or stolen. Examples of personal property with “special limits” would be jewelry, fur coats, coin and other collectibles, bicycles etc. You may need to schedule specific items on a Scheduled Articles Floater to ensure they are adequately covered. Call your insurance advisor to review all the “special limits” applicable to your insurance policy to ensure they are adequate for your personal needs.
Home Systems Protection / Home Equipment Breakdown
Home Systems Protection or Home Equipment Breakdown provides coverage for direct physical damage to covered equipment caused by accidental mechanical or electrical breakdown.
If fun on the water and boating is a way of life for you, you will need to get liability coverage in case of an accident and to ensure sudden and accidental loss of or damage to your boat or watercraft is insured. For some boats or watercrafts, we may be able to simply add coverage right onto your home policy.
In many cases, we will recommend a separate watercraft policy to you. We work with a number of insurance companies who offer policies specializing in covering the specific needs of boat owners. Call your insurance advisor to discuss the many coverage options available to you.
If you have a larger boat or watercraft, we can offer you separate Marine & Boat Insurance.
