This July 1st is Canada’s 150th Birthday!  .   Confederation took place on July 1st 1867 marking July 1st as Canada Day. Over the last 150 years Canadians have been responsible for many historic events and inventions. Some of note are the Canadarm used in NASA’s space shuttle program, the invention of basketball, discovery of insulin and events such as the Underground Railroad, Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, and many others .

 Canada Day is an opportunity to celebrate the rich history of our culture and the achievements that have been made by Canadians. It is important   to recognize  and celebrate the independence of Canada. Join us in celebrating Canada’s birthday with events all across Canada. We’ve listed some events that may be close to you!

Victoria, BC

Events take place all week long in Victoria. Visit the Inner Harbour of Downtown Victoria for live music, arts and culture, and food  . The event titled Spirit of 150 Victoria is the official Canada day event and takes place on June 21st- July 1st with a fireworks show to end off Canada’s 150th birthday.

Vancouver, BC

A 2 day event at Canada Place is said to be the largest celebration outside of Ottawa. The event features live music, a parade through downtown Vancouver, pancake breakfast, a kid zone, and many more events there is fun for the whole family.

There are a wide variety of Canada Day events taking place all over the city in Calgary. ,  t. There will be street fairs, live entertainment, petting zoos, and a wide selection of events taking place you’ll definitely want to check out.

Edmonton, AB

Celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday in Edmonton is sure to be fun for all. There is  a free family street festival at Rogers Place during the day followed by a ceremony for award recipients.    The festivities end of with a   show from Sarah McLachlan in the evening (tickets required).
