We originally had used Westland for our cabin insurance the rep we used was amazing. She was quick, professional and on top of things. A 5 star employee and the reason we switched our home owners insurance to Westland. What a mistake. If we were still dealing with her I would be giving them a 5 star review. Unfortunately we had to deal with a new rep who was the assistant manager and we had nothing but issues. We were sent forms to fill in, which we would complete and send back but then he would send additional questions, so we would answer those then he would send more questions which we had already answered so I would forward the email that I previously sent to him with the answers and our rep was "oh I didn't receive that". Hmmm. Then he would go quiet for long periods of time. All of the messages back and forth took a long time, like many days to a week plus before he would follow up. The whole process dragged on over a couple months. I actually forgot about it after I hadn't heard from him for awhile then when I remembered and called to confirm everything was ok, he said we hadn't followed up and we weren't covered. This was very upsetting. We were paying them monthly but he said we weren't covered. It took ages and many emails and phone calls for me to sort this out. We've sold our home and are in the transition time before we move out and the new owner asked who we were insured with so we said it was Westland but we are watching the same thing happen for them. Forms filled in and sent back then more emails from Westland asking questions that were answered in the forms and the new owners are dealing with a completely different rep. So something from the top down in this company isn't working well. We definitely won't be using them for our new home. Thought I'd share my experience I see that they have lots of positive reviews so I included details about the issues we had, that way you can decide for yourself.
