Creating community with artsPlace and family programming

 Community  Partnerships

At Westland Insurance, we’re proud to support artsPlace in Canmore, a vibrant community hub that connects people through creativity. Operated by the Canadian Mountain Arts Foundation, a registered charity, artsPlace operates independently from the Town of Canmore. Through our sponsorship this year, the Family Sunday artsPlay and Free Family Films programs continue to offer free, inclusive experiences.

These support bringing families and friends together and strengthen community connection. As well, these programs reflect Westland’s Amplifying Communities pillars by helping build spaces where belonging, creativity, and well-being thrive.

We believe that access to the arts supports mental wellness, inspires learning, and encourages meaningful connection. This year alone, Family Sunday artsPlay hosted over 40 sessions, welcoming more than 800 participants. The Family Films program also brought over 400 parents and children together to enjoy movies that spark imagination and joy.

Beyond creativity, artsPlace plays a vital role in fostering cultural understanding, including honouring the land and people of Treaty 7 and advancing truth and reconciliation. We’re honoured to support artsPlace in their ongoing commitment to inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility initiatives.

By creating inclusive spaces where diverse voices and stories are shared, artsPlace helps strengthen the sense of belonging that makes communities like Canmore so special.

Through the Brokers For Good Program by Gore Mutual Insurance , Westland additionally secured a $2,000 grant in addition to our sponsorship for 2025. These funds will help artsPlace continue offering accessible programming that supports families, artists, and the broader community.

Together with artsPlace and Gore Mutual, we’re helping make creativity and connection accessible to everyone.
