Partnering with the Calgary Humane Society for animals in need
At Westland Insurance, supporting the organizations that strengthen our communities is part of who we are. In 2025, our Calgary team was proud to continue our partnership with the Calgary Humane Society (CHS) through event sponsorships, community engagement, and volunteer support.
In October, Westland Insurance was proud to be the raffle sponsor at the CHS Cocktail’s for Critters Annual Fundraising Gala. Thanks to the generosity of donors and attendees, the CHS surpassed its fundraising goal and raised more than $300,000! These are funds that will directly support rescue efforts, medical care, and essential programs for animals across Calgary.
Back in May, our team joined over 1,000 excited animal lovers at North Glenmore Park and Reservoir for the largest-ever CHS Dog Jog. This event helps raise crucial funding to support life-saving programs focused on education, protection, rehabilitation and ultimately, a new beginning for animals in need.
Together, participants raised an incredible $239,000 to support rescue and rehabilitation for animals in need. As a market sponsor, our team welcomed countless pups and their people, who stopped by our Westland booth to chat about pet insurance and enjoyed our pet-friendly swag. The energy was high and the community spirit made it a day to remember!
The CHS also offers group volunteering days, and helped us organize this for our Calgary staff. The CHS relies on compassionate, dedicated individuals to help protect animals, support people, and promote animal welfare in our community, and we were excited about the opportunity to contribute our time. Staff participated in essential animal-care activities, including laundry and dishes, and supporting day-specific operational tasks.
The day was supplemented by a tour of the facility, learning more about CHS programs, and spending time with animals awaiting adoption. These experiences offered our team a deeper understanding of the tremendous commitment CHS staff and volunteers bring to their work every single day.
