Westland’s first National Food Drive and 2026 results
On May 27th, Westland employees across Canada came together to support local food banks and community partners through a national food drive and fundraiser.
A record-breaking year
This year marked a major milestone as teams made an impact on a national scale, raising 13,430 lbs of food and $20,912.50 in monetary donations!
What started eight years ago in Westbank, BC, led by Branch Manager at the time, Rhonda Dozois, began as a small, local effort. It quickly gained momentum, growing into a regional initiative across the southern interior, expanding across BC by 2024, and into Alberta in 2025. Now, in 2026, it’s become something bigger: a truly national effort powered by our people and communities coast to coast.
Choosing food banks as our cause was a very personal decision for me. Food insecurity is an issue that has always been close to my heart. Growing up, I watched my great grandmother fill up her pickup truck every weekend with fruits and vegetables from our garden and deliver them to people in need in our community. Those experiences left a lasting impression on me, and they continue to inspire this work today.
What we raised together
In total, we collected 13,430 pounds of food overall:
- British Columbia: 8,327 lbs of food
- Alberta: 1,869 lbs of food
- Saskatchewan: 1,153 lbs of food
- Manitoba: 665 lbs of food
- Ontario: 1,416 lbs of food
We raised $20,912.50 in monetary donations:
- British Columbia: $14,465.90
- Alberta: $3,979.60
- Saskatchewan: $909.50
- Manitoba: $1,241.60
- Ontario: $315.90
These donations will help stock shelves, fill fridges, and support food security across the communities we call home.
Why it matters
Food insecurity continues to affect thousands of families across Canada. Community food banks are essential, and they rely on steady support to meet growing needs. Every dollar and every item donated helps provide food and essential resources to those who need them most.
At Westland, our purpose is to amplify possibilities for our clients, our people, and our communities. Supporting local food programs is one way we bring that purpose to life.
Thank you
To everyone who donated, volunteered, or helped organize food drive efforts in their branch or community: thank you. Your kindness and commitment made this possible.
