Monthly payment plan options

Westland Insurance has partnered with FIRST Insurance Funding of Canada (FIRST) to offer monthly payment plans to our clients. Plans can be set up from a bank account or credit card.

To set up monthly payments, please log in to your MyWestland account or contact your insurance advisor.

To make changes to an existing payment plan with FIRST, please contact FIRST directly at 1-888-111-2238.

FIRST payment plan FAQs

If you were previously on a Westland Insurance payment plan, your Westland advisor will contact you to offer to set up a new payment plan with FIRST prior to your renewal date.

If you have an invoice due, you can sign into MyWestland and select Pay Monthly to set up your plan using a bank account or credit card. Alternatively, your Westland Advisor can help you set up a plan by providing you with a payment plan quote and a link for you to complete the payment plan directly through FIRST. Final plan authorization will come from FIRST directly, typically within 24 hours.

If a monthly payment is unsuccessful (e.g., insufficient funds in bank account), an NSF fee of $50 will be applied to your account. If your payment is more than five days late, FIRST will contact you to let you know they intend to cancel the policy for non-payment in 15 days if the payment is not completed. A late payment fee of 5% is applied to each failed instalment.

To process a failed payment, please call FIRST at 1-888-111-2238.

If your credit card number has changed, please contact FIRST at 1-888-111-2238 to update your credit card number.

Premiums over $350 can be put on a payment plan. For Premiums under $350, please talk to your insurance advisor for payment options.

To cancel your insurance policy, speak to a Westland Insurance advisor. To only cancel a payment plan but keep your policy, contact FIRST at 1-888-111-2238. They will assist you in paying out and closing your financing loan.

You should contact FIRST at 1-888-111-2238 for any changes to or questions about existing FIRST payment plans.

All monthly plans have an annual $25 broker fee.

Bank account withdrawals are charged the insurance premium plus interest rate.

Credit card payments are charged the interest rate plus an additional 2.97% fee.

The interest rate is determined by FIRST when the payment plan quote is created. Please contact your insurance advisor for a monthly payment plan quote.

If a policy is cancelled for non-payment, a $100 cancellation fee is applied by FIRST.

You can change the date your payments are collected from your bank account or credit card, one time for no charge before the down payment is taken. After one change, or after the down payment is withdrawn, a $35 fee will apply. FIRST requires the request at least 2 business days in advance of the next installment.

You can change your payment type by contacting FIRST insurance at 1-888-111-2238.

You can choose to increase your down payment at the time the payment plan is set up.

If you’d like to make another payment midterm, this can be done directly through FIRST.

Your Westland Insurance advisor will still be your go-to for all policy-related questions. Contact FIRST for payment plan questions and changes at 1-888-111-2238.

The payment will show as FIRST on your bank account or credit card statement.

No, FIRST’s financing option is not available for ICBC products. Your Westland advisor will let you know what financing options are available from ICBC directly.
